‘French-born, London-based abstract beat producer Xavier Thomas (a.k.a. dÉbruit) recently released ?i? Sürpriz, his sixth EP, on Civil Music. To compliment the release, animation house Plastic Horse created an official video for the track “Mezdé.” The song and video meld into a surreal audio-visual journey that plays out like a Spike Jonze dream sequence. In “Mezdé,” dÉbruit’s Turkish influence shines through in his production, as traditional middle-eastern instruments swell around the type of off-kilter rhythms that dÉbruit has become known for.
